antEnt Events

Ent Events are activities that involve competition or interaction with other 4-H Bug Club members.  This page gives you links to information on tours of the Entomology Department at the University of Florida, Outreach programs (where we come to your club or school), Entomology events at 4-H Congress, and our annual Collection Contest.

Insect Collection ContestInsect Collection Contest

Insect collecting is fun, challenging, and educational.  Best of all, you can show off all your hard work at your local fair and 4-H Congress.  Every year your collection will get bigger and better, and you will learn more and more.  It's also a project you can keep and remember for a lifetime (seriously).

4-H Congress4-H Congress

Four hundred 4-H youth from across the state make their way to the University of Florida campus for Florida 4-H Congress the last week of July. Throughout the week, youth participate in competitive events, leadership programs, sustainability programs, and other educational workshops.

OutreachOutreach and Entomology Department Tours

Our outreach program is designed to increase awareness and enthusiasm for insects and other "bugs."  Outreach programs and University of Florida Entomology and Nematology Department tours are given to groups of all sizes and ages and are tailored to meet the individual needs of the group.   We try to make each show fun as well as informative, with lots of live critters and as many hands-on activities as time, size, and age permit.
