The Jefferson County, West Virginia record was provided by Wil Hershberger, who observed A. tinnulenta in this county on 20 August 2018 and 21 August 2019. Wil Hershberger also found A. tinnulenta in large numbers singing in a field of native sunflowers in Ross County, Ohio, on 14 and 16 August 2019; Montezumina modesta was found in this same field of sunflowers on 16 August 2019.

The red dot in Iowa was originally based on two calling songs that were captured on two videos by Alicia Houk in late September, 2020. The exact locality was Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa (41.003990, -92.442850). Alicia tentatively identified the songs as made by Anaxipha tinnulenta, but because the location was so far removed from other records of that species, she emailed the songs to Tom Walker and Dave Funk (who had described the species in 2014). Dave confirmed the identification by calling song and, from a specimen collected by Alicia in October 2020, by the number of teeth in the stridulatory file (n=256).
