Gryllus rubens

distribution map for Gryllus rubens
Dots show county records; shaded area shows likely general distribution.
Computer-generated distribution map, produced in 2004 from records in a database
available on this site.
(Note: Monroe County, Florida, includes the southwest portion of the tip of mainland Florida and the upper and lower keys. These three parts of that county are mapped separately in the "dot maps" but not in the computer-generated distribution maps, which are strictly at the county level.)

The red dots on the map represent records provided by Wil Hershberger: numerous males heard singing and one captured, recorded, and photographed on 18 July 2004 at Stauffer's Marsh, Berkely County, WV; numerous males heard singing along the border of a mowed lawn on 30 April 2015 in Fayette County, WV; numerous males heard and recorded at Shawnee State Park in the cabins area on 13-20 April 2017 in Scioto County, OH; and a trilling cricket at the edge of a parking lot in a grassy area in Jefferson County, WV on 30 April 2022. These new points moved the shaded boundary north.
