boreal shieldback
Steiroxys borealis

Caudell (1907) stated that Scudder's types of S. borealis included a male from northern California and a female from Oregon. He assigned specimens to this species from wide-ranging locations but noted no noticeable differences separating them from dark forms of S. trilineata. Rentz and Birchim (1968) designated the male from northern California as lectotype of the species.
