Gray Squirrel Fatality Associated with Fibromatosis



      An immature (approximately 8-9 weeks old) eastern gray squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) in Florida whose death was associated with fibromatosis (also called squirrel fibroma or squirrelpox) is shown in the image below. Lesions and nodules on the legs, hind paws and face (especially around the eye) are prominent.
