08/06/98 - Sebring Mediterranean Fruit Fly Update - DACS

Sebring

Fly count: Another fly was detected yesterday, bringing the total to 125 flies trapped since the original find on July 9. This find does not affect the size of the treatment area or the quarantine area.

Traps: There are currently 4504 traps deployed in a 207 square mile survey area: 3486 Jackson, 265 McPhails, and 753 yellow panel traps.

Treatment: Ground bait treatment continues in the buffered areas. The fourth aerial treatment for the northern block and third treatment for the southern block are scheduled for Saturday August 8, weather permitting.

Environmental Monitoring: No report

Health Monitoring: DOH received one health related call today. Follow up is in process.
