Report Dated 07/22/98
Traps: There are currently 2972 traps deployed: 2247 Jackson, 176 McPhail, and 549 yellow panel traps. An additional 50 traps were placed yesterday within a 4 square mile radius of the new find.
Treatment: Ground treatments were made in a half square mile radius around the new fly find in commercial groves. In addition, ground treatments were continued in the buffered areas around exclusion sites in the northern block.
Environmental Monitoring: The following results are from water samples collected by FDACS staff prior to and following the first aerial bait treatment.
July 17 - pre-treatment results
| Dinner Lake | BDL (Below detectable level) |
| Little Red Water | BDL |
| Lake Sebring | BDL |
| Lake Denton | BDL |
| Little Bonnet | BDL |
July 18 - post treatment results
| Dinner Lake | BDL |
| Little Red Water | 0.6 ppb |
| Lake Sebring | 1.4 ppb |
| Lake Denton | 0.1 - 0.3 ppb (between the MDL and PQL) |
| Little Bonnet | 0.1 - 0.3 ppb (between the MDL and PQL) |
The minimum detection level (MDL) is 0.1 ppb and the practical limit of quantification (PQL) is 0.3 ppb.
All samples were BDL for malaoxon. The MDL for malaoxon is 0.1 ppb. NOTE: These results are comparable to results in Umatilla, where aerial bait treatments were also made using helicopters and 100 meter buffers.
Health Monitoring: No report.
