UF ENTOMOLOGY FIELD CAMP

I heart bugs artwork with web address

June 24-28, 2024

Activities:
Students will learn how to collect insects in both terrestrial and aquatic habitats, they will take part in a Linnaean Game to test their knowledge of insects, they will complete an insect collection they get to keep, they will build a bug out of candy, learn to cook with insects, meet a scientist, dissect an insect, learn about insect communication by competing in a pheromone trail activity, compete in an insect mouthparts relay, play the insect game of life, work a live bee colony, and visit the Butterfly Rainforest. Not bad for a bug camp. Please register today to reserve your seat.

Registration:

Camp registration may be completed through https://BugCamp2024.4honline.com .

This is the Florida 4-H Online site, so is greatly streamlined over previous camp registrations.  Your camper will need to be registered as a 4-Her, so if they are not already, you can do that through the Florida 4-H Online system.  You will be able to pay the Camp Fees through the registration portal ($195), and will be able to complete the camp questions and the forms for the University of Florida Youth Conference Services compliance.

You will receive a confirmation email when your packet is approved.

Questions: ufbugs@ifas.ufl.edu or (352) 273-3974.

Also, don’t forget about the Florida 4-H Insectathon where your camper may compete with their insect collection, insect art, and insect knowledge for awards and scholarships.  The event is held in February.  Please see Insectathon - Florida 4-H - University of Florida, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences - UF/IFAS (ufl.edu) for more details.
