Paths to files

A file has to be placed somewhere (Save in: Fig. 1 below) and named (File name: Fig. 2) to be saved. The description to where a file is located is known as the Path to that file. A path (on IBM PC's) typically includes a drive (A:, B:, C:), one or more directories (separated by \...\...\...'s), and a filename. This is different on Macintosh OS. PC users in this class might learn something new by also reading this article.

While path designations on a PC utilize the "\" backslash (C:\temp\als3203), Macintosh uses a different designation. Read the above articles to see how they differ.
