Life Science - ENY 3007 and 5160

ENY 3007C/5160C is an introduction to insects and their association with man and the environment. This is a biology course that introduces you to arthropods and how they fit into our world. By discovering how closely insects interact with humans, you will gain knowledge of ecosystems, trophic interactions, plant structures, and human mythology involving insects. Who knows, you may even get a chance to taste insect cuisine. The focus of this course is to expose pre-service teachers to science they can use it in their classroom. Students in the class will explore the Sunshine State Educational Standards, participate in several science workshops (Project Wild and Schoolyard Wildlife), take a field-trip to some natural areas on campus, and will present a lesson to the class for peer review. Come join in to find out how insects can be used to teach science concepts to any audience.
